I'm new, but "How Do You Balance"

This is (like) amazing.

My sister is social website savvy and she has contributed to my being inspired to participate as well.

She and I have returned from the Inauguration, but while we were at the National Mall watching the Inauguration on the 1 of the 26 jumbo-trons, she was receiving messages on her cell phone from other FB members with questions and comments.

How cool is this?!

I want to play too. This is phenomenal to me.

So I have signed up for some sites and I actually feel good when I receive responses.

For those who have “additive personalities”. Social media website could be very interesting. The eagerness to chat, post, write, respond, engage, comment, update, etc; one could actually make the choice to do these things rather than, let’s say, workout?

So the thought/question that comes to mind for me is…with social media websites, cell phone/text messages, instant messaging, etc, “How does one manage social media communications with life?

We can have extensive continuous conversations and never physically meet or hear each others’ voices. Or, shake hands.

Where is the balance?

How do you balance interacting online vs. personal interaction?

Great question Hope!

How do you balance between the two? I don't think there is a formula or guide per se. It really is about what you need as a person and it's up to you to decide when you've had too much..of either.

I personally prefer face-to-face. Body language, facial expressions, voice inflection are sadly missing from online. To me, more information is conveyed through these things than the words themselves. However, online has given me the opportunity to meet people and share ideas that never would have been possible otherwise.

Keeping up with online communications can be very time-consuming. But with some simple tools, you can help to make the onslaught of information more manageable.
