doterati evolution • new board member announcement july '09
As doterati continues to mature it is essential to continually identify volunteers that are passionate and willing to get involved with our growing organization. As a volunteer based organization it is natural to observe ebbs and flows in our volunteer’s time availability, commitment and area of interest.
During our first meeting/vision planning for 2009 I handed out copies of the book, The New Breed: Understanding and Equipping the 21st Century Volunteer, to the doterati board members. It’s a quick read and one that I recommend to anyone involved with a nonprofit or volunteer based association. Similar to consumer behavior, the new breed, wants to volunteer on their terms and may not follow traditional models for getting involved.
We’ve been so fortunate to have many giving volunteers that have helped shape doterati – from advisers, to opinion givers, to committee members, to bloggers, to critics, to board members and everyone in between. Without the words and giving efforts of all of these we wouldn’t have our own unique doterati story to tell.
I am happy to announce two interim board appointments that are official this month – our new Community Director, Carri Bright, and our new Co-Programming Director, Taylor Huff! Both ladies bring energy, enthusiasm and a desire to make things happen in their respective areas. They will hold their positions until our next annual board election during our annual members only meeting in December. Profiles of both are below so you can get to know them; better yet get in touch with either directly if you’d like to help out.

advice for future members: Investing in your professional development is important. Doterati provides awesome opportunities to learn and grow. Plus, you get to meet some really fantastic people while you're at it!
